Fall Season - Complete


2016 Fall Season: Our Fall season kicked off in early Nov at Mountain View Ice Arena (MVIA) in Vancouver for girls ages 9-12 (birth years 2007-2004).
We offered several programs: (1)  6 on-ice sessions AND 6 dry-land sessions (2) 6 on-ice sessions only; and (3) 6 dry land sessions only. 

1) Full Program (12 Sessions Total)
  • On-ice Sessions: Sunday mornings on 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 12/4, 12/11 & 12/18. (No skate on 11/27 and 12/25 due to holidays). Showtime is 5:30am. Ice time is 6-7am at Mountain View Ice Arena. Dang, that’s early! We know & we’re sorry. It’s the only ice time we could get in this city.
  • Dry-land Training: Wednesday evenings on 11/9, 11/16, 11/30, 12/7, 12/14 and 12/21. (No training on 11/23, 12/21 and 12/28 due to holidays.) Sessions will run for 1 hour from 6:15 to 7:15pm. Showtime is 6pm or 15 min before. Location: 8785 SW Beaverton Hillsdale HWY (2 blocks from Winterhawks Skating Center/across the street from Jesuit High School.) Wear sneakers & gym clothes. Bring a water bottle w/ her name on it.

2) Ice-Only (6 Sessions Total)

Helpful Info:
  • Gear -- Since we're skating so darn early, if you have a gear issue and need us to bring a set of elbow pads, shin guards, or whatnot, please email us well in advance. We're happy to help you but need to know prior to Sunday at 5:30am. :) Thank you!
  • We're hoping to participate in a tournament or jamboree sometime in late 2016. We’re talking with girls' associations in Seattle and elsewhere right now. As soon as we lock in dates, we’ll let you know.  
  • All players must be registered with USA Hockey (our national governing body) to participate in our program. Therefore, when you sign up for our season, you’ll be required to enter your player’s USA Hockey registration number for the 2016/17 season. Click here to register with USA Hockey.  
  • Doug Lynch Hockey is running our dry land program. Coach Doug & Max will focus on working on strength, quickness and agility -- all necessary skills for young hockey players.  We’re excited to add this component to our regular hockey season. It's also a great way for the girls to become closer friends and teammates. 
  • Our Fall season won't include a "Learn to Skate" program, as it has in the past. Instead, we encourage you to sign up for our Spring season. On a similar note, if your player falls outside this age range, please click here for details on our Spring season.
  • The RCHC Fund contributes to our scholarship program and buys sticks, gear, and other items (which we provide for free). This program lowers one of the biggest barriers to hockey -- a fairly expensive sport -- and helps us grow girls hockey in the Pacific Northwest. The window to apply for scholarships this season closed Oct 23. Please check back here for info on future scholarships. 
  • As you know, rink schedules sometimes change. They are often out of our control but, nonetheless, we’ll do our best to minimize disruption to our program. Thanks for understanding.

Status of MVIA:  In October, City Bible Church announced that it is closing the rink. (Details in this article.) Fortunately for us -- and all the other programs that use the rink -- this process will take time. Our Fall season (Nov-Dec) is not in jeopardy, according to MVIA's rink manager. We will keep you informed as we learn more about the rink's status.
