2019/20 Girls House Program
*** In an effort to keep our players safe, we have cancelled practice on 3/15. Our House season is now officially over. Looking ahead, our next program is 2020 Summer Development Camp for 12U-19U players. Click here for more info. *** Our Girls House Program (GHP) for the 2019-20 season will include 22-weeks of amazing hockey on Sunday mornings. Our season starts 10/6 and ends 3/15. Ice time will be Sundays, 6:15-7:20am and 7:25-8:25am, at Sherwood Ice Arena. Players 12U and older will skate in one session (birth year 2008 and older). Players 10U and younger will skate in another (birth year 2007 and younger). Both sessions are 60 minutes. (Visit this link for USA Hockey age designations.) Players will alternate the early start time by month. For example, last October, players 12U and older skated from 6:15-7:20am. Players 10U and younger skated from 7:25am-8:25am. They switched times in November. Showtime at rink is always 30 min before ice time to dress out. The 12U and older ice schedule is HERE. The 10U and younger ice schedule is HERE. Buy Hockey Stuff = Support the Team When you buy items from our team store, you're helping to keep costs down for our players. Click on SquadLocker to buy a hat, t-shirt, hoodie, and other neat gifts for your player. Ten percent of the proceeds go to us, a nonprofit organization. Our House Program will not include Learn to Play Hockey. All ice sessions, however, will offer age-appropriate activities. Anyone with at least one season of hockey experience is welcome in the GHP. Our primary emphasis will be on skill development, teamwork, and the love of hockey. SCHOLARSHIPS: Our scholarship window is now closed. REGISTRATION is now closed. Email [email protected] if you have a question. OVERVIEW OF TEAMS 6/8/10U GHP - These players will skate together on the same sheet of ice and will be assigned to groups based on their skill level. When appropriate, they will have a GAME DAY (meaning they will scrimmage one another). 12/14/16U GHP - These players will skate together with alternating practices and GAME DAYS every week. (GAME DAYS are full-ice scrimmages and, well, a total blast.) MANDATORY - Please note: (1) Every player requires a valid 2019/20 USA Hockey membership number to register with RCHC. (2) All players are responsible for bringing their own mouth guards (and, yo, wearing 'em on the ice). Changes to Rink Schedule: Sometimes rinks have last-minute changes to their schedules. We'll do our best to minimize the impact on your player's experience and on our program overall. Thanks for your patience & understanding. Contact Us: Have a question or concern? Psst: Hey, what's a development program? Good question. Development programs are designed for players who are committed to playing competitively. Such players are often hoping to play college hockey and beyond. In addition, a development program is often a stepping stone between a regular season/house program and a travel team. A House program often involves little or no tournament travel while the latter, a travel team, often involves up to 7-8 tournaments per season. Our development program will offer 3 tournaments with the option of doing more (if there are enough families interested in doing so). Our Girls Development Program (known as the GDP) is intended for competitive players with considerable hockey experience. They will need to participate in an evaluation skate to be part of the program. They will also be required to play in another hockey program (such as RCHC's regular season or WJH's metro league) and do dry-land training. Ice times will focus on individual skill and team development. RCHC goal is to raise the overall level of play, meet developmental needs, foster team play, and support player retention. |
