Summer Camp Wraps Up.
Great Session w/ Two Olympic Coaches. Aug 1-5, 2016 @ Winterhawks Skate Center For Girls 6 - 15 Registration Closed 7/15. Camp Done. Olympic Coaches: We're pleased to announce that two Olympic hockey players will be joining us for camp! Lyndsey Fry is a Silver Medalist from Sochi in ice hockey. In June, she earned another Silver playing inline hockey for Team USA. She will run drills as well as conduct dry land training & chalk talks about what it takes to become an Olympic hockey player, college hockey for women, sports nutrition, and other topics. We're equally honored to have Josh Sweeney with us again this year. He won a Gold Medal in the Paralympics (also in Sochi) and earned the Purple Heart for his military service. Josh will teach us about sled hockey and share his inspiring story about the journey to become an Olympic athlete. Camp Details: Our 2016 summer ice hockey camp will run daily from 8:30am - 12:30pm on Aug 1-5, 2016 at Winterhawk Skate Center in Beaverton, OR. Here's a rough breakdown of the schedule: 8:30 - 8:45am - Drop off your player 8:45 - 9:30am - Warm up/Dress into hockey gear 9:30 - 11:00am - Ice time (full 90 min for older players) 11:00 - 11:20am - Dress out of hockey gear 11:20 - 11:50am - Chalk talk 11:50 - 12:20 pm - Dry land & skill building 12:20 - 12:30pm - Parent pick up Registration is now closed. Requirements/Skill Level: Hockey experience is not required at camp, but it's a bonus. That said, players must know how to skate on their own. (We won't run a "Learn to Skate" zone at camp.) Our Philosophy: RCHC hockey players learn more than hockey skills. We offer a fun, positive, supportive environment to teach girls the amazing stuff we learned playing sports: team work, leadership, good sportsmanship. Do we want 'em to grow up & be Olympic hockey players? Heck yes. But our real goal is to help them gain the self-confidence needed to become strong, assertive young women. Question: Drop us an email at info@rosecityhockeyclub.com. Learn More: Check out the Oregonian's great story, short video, & photos from our 2014 camp. Scholarships: Would you like to donate to the RCHC Fund? Doing so contributes to our scholarship program and buys sticks, gear, and other items (which we provide for free!) so we can introduce more girls to the sport. We offered scholarships for camp earlier this summer. We had a one-month window from mid-June to mid-July for families to apply. Our application window is now closed. If your player is interested in a scholarship for our winter season, check back here in the fall. Thank you. Praise: Here's what our hockey parents have said about our summer camp ... "Best Hockey camp ever!!! Great coaches, volunteers, and a motivated group of girls. Absolutely amazing how much these hard working girls improved in only 4 days. And I loved seeing them form new friendships and learn what it means to be a team player. Well done Rose City Hockey Club!" -- Hockey Mom with two girls in camp (who are still in our program!), August 2013 "My daughter held up her red jersey today and said Rose City will change your life!" -- Hockey Mom with a 5 year old player. |
