OVERVIEW - GIRLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
We're excited to announce our Girls Dev Program for the 2020-21 season. Our teams will be skating primarily at Sherwood Ice Arena in Sherwood (16U) and Winterhawks Skating Center in Beaverton (10/12/14U).
Our Dev program will depend on two big factors. The first is COVID-19. Enough said. The other factor is meeting minimum registration numbers. In other words, if we don't get enough players signed up for an individual team, we will unfortunately re-allocate the ice to another team (boo!).

OVERVIEW - GIRLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
We're excited to announce our Girls Dev Program for the 2020-21 season. Our teams will be skating primarily at Sherwood Ice Arena in Sherwood (16U) and Winterhawks Skating Center in Beaverton (10/12/14U).

- 10U Head Coach: Robin Willins

- Primary Practice Rink: WSC. (May change due to Covid limitations on the number of players allowed to skate at one time.)
- New Approach: Our 10U, 12U, and 14U program this year will enable growth in our more experienced players, while giving choice in whether they want to also participate in tournaments. Ice sign-ups will be done through Winterhawks Jr Hockey's Skills and Compete registration and dryland registration will be done through RCHC. RCHC will run both the ice time practices and dryland. GDP tournament teams will be selected by RCHC out of this group after the season starts, so there is no commitment to tournaments up front.
- Individual Team Registrations: Will open to players selected for the travel team roster right before the team's first tournament or friendly scrimmage (in the fall). Scholarship & installment payment info below.
- Full or part-time team? Part-time. 10U, 12U, and 14U players must also skate in another hockey program like our Girls House Program (Sat mornings at SIA.)
- Overview: The WJH Skills and Compete program will be targeted toward development for the experienced player. Prior to the first tournament, players will be selected for a travel roster. Covid-dependent, they will then register with us to attend up to 3 tournaments over the course of the season, plus weekly dryland training/chalk talks and one team-specific pre-tournament practice (per tourney). [Please note: Our 10U GDP team may only attend 1 or 2 tournaments and include limited number of pre-tourney practices. More to come (we promise) on the scope of this particular team.]
16U Tier 2 Team
- Head Coach: Court Carnes
- Primary Practice Rink: SIA (with some travel to Eugene).
- Evaluations: Eval timing is TBD due to Covid rink closures. No walk-ins will be allowed due to Covid-related restrictions.
- 16U Intent Registration: $15.
- 16U Team Registration: Opens after Evals for players selected for the team.
- Eligibility: We encourage players from across Oregon in birth years 2004-2005 to attend. Athletes in birth years 2006 and 2007 may participate in our 16U Evaluations. To be selected, however, they must be deemed among the best on the ice compared to their 2004-2005 counterparts.
- Full or part-time team? Full time.
- Overview: This will be a full-time travel team with 25-30 games across the season. Players will also participate in dryland training and attend 4-6 tournaments, Covid dependent. The team will skate two nights a week in Portland, and also have practices / games a few times a month in Eugene. Players from outside of Portland are absolutely welcome & will participate in the weekend Eugene practices & tourneys. The Board of Directors & coaching staff are jazzed about this nationally-bound team & the talented athletes who'll be on it!
